InPlay was promoted during the broadcast as well as on ESPN's mobile web with a link directly to the game.
ESPN wanted a 2nd screen mobile trivia experience for their viewers of the 2012 US Open Tennis tournament. Sponsored by American Express, it included real-time predictive mixed with historic trivia questions. You could invite friends to play via Facebook, and comment on your progress with a live twitter feed. The prize: tickets to next year’s US Open final.
Results: ESPN was hoping for approximately 10,000 viewers to play. By the star of the 2nd week of the tournament, the experience had more than 105,000 players.
